Villa Jas
A timeless stone retreat just outside Gordes, Villa Jas has long been part of the Only Provence villa rental collection. In 2022, new owners from the UK partnered with our team to reimagine the property with a complete renovation. Their goal was to preserve the villa’s Provençal soul while infusing it with fresh energy, ensuring it remained an inviting home for seasonal stays.
The Project
This beautiful stone home just outside Gordes has been part of the Only Provence collection since the agency’s earliest days. In 2022, Provence Life found the perfect new owners—a wonderful couple from the UK, eager to breathe new life into the property that was beginning to feel a little tired. Wanting to continue sharing it as a seasonal rental, they embarked with us on a thoughtful, full-scale renovation. We worked in partnership with Interior Designer Anastasia Antonova who brought her keen eye for natural design into every step of the process.
The new owners envisioned a seasonal home that honored Provençal traditions while remaining fresh and inviting. The goal was to preserve its rustic charm, highlight natural light, and update interiors and exteriors to enhance comfort and modern ease. The villa needed updates without losing its story, from dated finishes to outdoor areas that no longer shone. Retaining original materials while introducing lighter tones, brighter fabrics, and more welcoming spaces required thoughtful choices.
Transformation
From the start, the vision was clear: honor the spirit of Provence while giving it a fresh and bright look. Together, we made it our guiding principle to retain the home’s authentic charm, highlighting aged wood and local stone, while inviting in a fresh, airy energy through warm, inviting fabrics. We kept many of the original pieces of furniture, stripping them of their heavy finishes and bringing out their warmer, honeyed tones.
We refreshed original furniture, stripped back heavy finishes, and celebrated the villa’s soft, natural light. New stone and landscaping redefined outdoor spaces. Local antiques and décor added depth, linking the renovation to Provence’s history.
After
Villa Jas is blessed with abundant natural light throughout the day, so we drew inspiration from the finest elements of Provence and used them as our canvas. On the exterior, we redesigned the outdoor living spaces by installing new stone around the infinity pool and adding rows of lavender for a wispy effect. Our final touches included visits to our favorite antiques and deco boutiques to select pieces that highlight the history, earthiness, and traditions of Provence.
Guests enjoy warm interiors, authentic materials, and outdoor living framed by lavender and an infinity pool. Every detail reflects Provence’s beauty while offering comfort and style, creating a retreat that feels both grounded in tradition and refreshingly new.
